Word
from the President
Every time a mother gives birth, it
is an act of faith in the future – which makes mothers the most optimistic
people on earth ! A mother’s commitment is for that future to be a safe,
happy place for her children to realise their full potential in every aspect
of their life. The love of a mother is a very powerful force, but we all
have moments of stark fear when we consider what the future might hold for
our children – and not just in the developing countries or those in
transition from repressive regimes. Everywhere in the world there are
dangers, if not of our own making, very often as a result of our own
acquiescence or lack of positive action – that is what makes it so hard for
us to bear. For 60 years the World Movement of Mothers has worked to support
mothers and their children in their family and in their community
