The World Movement of Mothers  is  an apolitical and non-denominational NGO representing mothers;
the MMM is in Consultative Status with Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations Organisation.

Its mission is to promote in national and international organisations the importance of a mother’s role for conflict resolution
in the family, in her community and in her nation’s life.

The MMM federates more than 64 associations in 40 countries, representing 6 million mothers - with their family, children and dependants, that is around 20 million people.

The MMM represents the mothers of the world no matter what their circumstances: their cultural, ethnic, religious background or social or economic situation.Mothers constitute the largest, most homogenous and most influential social group in the world because they are united in a common goal – ensuring the well-being and education of their children: their commitment in the present sets the values of the future.
.
Since its creation in 1947 the MMM has been working to raise awareness among the general public and decision-takers about mothers’ direct impact on attitudes towards peace, responsibility and respect and, therefore, on the social and economic development of their country.

The MMM bases its activities on a declaration of principles:the Mothers’ Charter

Through the member associations, the MMM works to fulfil many of the UN Millennium Development Goals, particularly

- Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
- Achieve universal primary education
- Promote gender equality and empower women
- Reduce child mortality
- Combat HIV/AIDS
- Improve maternal health
