The United Nations
is central to global efforts to solve problems that challenge
humanity.
Its Headquarters
are in New York USA.
The essence of all
its work is to build a better quality of life and future for
everyone.
UN membership
totals 192 countries.The main purpose of the UN are:
To
maintain international peace and security.
To
develop friendly relations among nations
to
be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations
The UN does not
legislate, but it gives legitimacy to nations wishing to
implement measures agreed in UN sessions. More and more these
measures enter national and international law.
NGOs,
like the MMM, are one of the major vehicles for ensuring that UN
recommendations are implemented by the countries which ratify
them, such as the Declarations on Human Rights, the Rights of
the Child and the Rights of the Family..

Geneva- UN
The
United Nations Office at Geneva is the second most important
UN centre after New York.
Two
thirds of the activities of the United Nations system take place
in Geneva, making it a key centre of international co-operation
and multilateral negotiation.
They are active in many of the major fields of work of the
United Nations, including health; labour; ; human rights;
humanitarian action and disaster relief; economic, trade and
development activities; disarmament efforts; science and
technology; as well as research and training.
The MMM has two permanent representatives at
the UN in Geneva who work actively to

Paris- UNESCO
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO) is working to create the conditions
for genuine dialogue based upon respect for shared values and
the dignity of each civilization and culture.
For this specialized United Nations agency,
Education, Social and Natural Science,
Culture and Communication are the means to an
ambitious goal: to build peace in the minds of men.
"Peace is
building, planning for the future, developing solidarity,
respecting other people, ensuring dialogue.”
Education for All (EFA) by 2015 guides UNESCO’s action in
the field of education and indeed, in an intersectoral manner,
throughout all its fields of competence.

European Parliament
The European Parliament, with the Council of Ministers, is the
legislative arm of the European Union. Members of the European
Parliament are elected by voters in all the member countries,
currently 27.
The European
Parliament meets in Strasbourg and its Commissions in
Brussels. The General Secretariat is in Luxemburg.
The European
Commission, based in Brussels and working closely with the
European Parliament, is the guardian of the
various treaties and the executive arm, implementing laws which
more and more affect the lives of the people of its member
nations. The Commission presents proposals for legislation to
the European Parliament and is present at all of its plenary
sessions. The European
Delegation of the MMM, the MMMEurope, is building a good
working relationship with MEPs and Commissioners to present the
